Fibro-adhesive scars are considered a fairly common pathological condition that arises in particular following surgery where tendons and / or peripheral nerves are involved. NOVABarrier is a new combination of hyaluronic and polylactic acid designed to adhere to the tissues and allow their repair, avoiding the excessive production of connective tissue with consequent adhesion formations.

Prevention of fibro-adhesions in spine surgery.
The onset of adhesion syndrome in spinal surgery is known as epidural adhesive scar or epidural fibrosis and is the most common cause of persistent radicular pain syndrome. Despite the evolution and development of new surgical techniques in the treatment of herniated intervertebral disc, the percentage of poor clinical outcome, which manifests itself as persistent painful root syndrome, remains high and is between 8%-24%.

Lyophilic formulation available in sponge or membrane configuration allows for hydration directly at the surgical site.
